In the audiogram (mini
podcast) our Learning Development Mentors help students with their studying
dilemmas. In this episode a student asks how to balance with part-time job with
studying and socializing. The response references a weekly planner template
which is available from the time management section of the skills
hub. The templates are at the bottom of the page.

Student-Led Study Hacks Hi! Paige here, a UON
Learning Development Mentor. I’m also a student at the university, and
I’m here to share my top Uni tips with you today! Let’s dive right into it with
today’s theme of: Time Saving Tips Revealed. So let’s get an answer
to today’s burning student question. "So I've got a part time job and I am
struggling to balance out my job with my uni work and social life. Do you have
any advice on how I can maximize my time doing uni work?" University
work is always most important; however I understand that many students are not
in a position not to work. For your particular predicament, I recommend two
things: making a to do list, and a weekly planner. In your to do list you can
rank all the university work you have to do in terms of what needs to be done:
in the next few days, weeks, months and so on. So that you’re doing the
work that’s due first. Then you turn to your weekly plan, firstly write in your
work shifts. Then put your uni work around when you have to do your shifts, and
if you need time to travel. Set yourself a time limit to do the work before you
give yourself a break. Maybe you want to go out for the evening with your friends,
but you have a work shift till 2pm, so you plan to study from 3pm to 5pm before
you get ready to go out. It’s so important you leave yourself time to socialise
and relax, otherwise you can burn yourself out. Don’t forget, answers to more questions, links to
show notes, resources and more are all available on the Skills Hub. Simply type
skills hub Northampton into Google and away you go!
